Kaspersky sees target attacks on firms in Germany, Italy, Japan, UK
MOSCOW, Jun 3 (PRIME) -- Russian antivirus software maker Kaspersky has detected a series of target attacks in Germany, Italy, Japan, and the U.K. on the firms-suppliers of equipment and software for industrial enterprises, Kaspersky said late on Tuesday in a report.
“Perpetrators use malicious documents of Microsoft Office and PowerShell scripts, as well as different techniques making it hard to detect and analyze malware, including steganographia, a technology that hides the fact of transfer of malware inside an image,” the document read.
At the initial stage, hackers used phishing letters in the language of the country where the victim is located. Malware was exploited only if the operating system was localized for the language.
Kaspersky solutions blocked all detected cases, although the purpose of the hackers is still unknown.
